Paediatric Dentistry encompasses the whole of dentistry for the child. The Masters programme is intended to produce clinicians capable of independent specialising practice, subject to the regulations and strictures of their country.
Emphasis is placed on the diagnosis and conservative management of the more common oral and dental diseases in childhood and the developing dentition, together with exposure to a full spectrum of referred patients in this active clinical department.

Students undertake clinical work in the following areas:
Diagnosis and Treatment Planning in Paediatric Dentistry
Interceptive Measures in the Management of the Developing Occlusion
Paediatric Dentistry including the Treatment of Children with Disabilities
Students are required to carry out an investigation and to prepare a report in the form of a dissertation which must include a survey of the relevant literature.
Duration
Two years' full-time study.
Assessment
Assessment is continuous through-out the programme; students will be expected to satisfy an internal assessment at the end of the first term, and again at the end of the first year, in order to proceed further. The final examination - which must be passed in order to satisfy the requirements of the degree - incorporates a written examination, clinical examination and an evaluation of the research report.
Entry Requirements
An approved dental qualification registerable with the General Dental Council. Candidates should have at least one year’s demonstrable postgraduate clinical experience. In some cases, satisfactory completion of a one-month period of pre-programme assessment during September of the year of entry will be required. All programmes in the School are conducted in English and the Faculty requires overseas applicants to furnish proof of their proficiency in the English language.
Overseas applicants may be expected to attend for interview.
